Aftermarket A/C system whining noise

Some systems used mufflers to stop noises. Maybe you need one? I have only seen/ heard 1 or 2 noisey expansion valves in my life.

Just read that mufflers are used on discharge lines, but it's my suction line that's noisy. And it's more of a rumble, not whining. Also, I hear the same noise at the compressor body.

Have a friend with a similar compressor on his hot rod, so will see what it sounds like.

Gm uses mufflers on both lines
