I kind of like it. Looks very stylish and plush. If I was in the market for a car, and the acceleration is above adequate, I would absolutely buy one. Coolest looking Toyota I have seen in many years

What's weird about the cars roaming in Japan is that the side mirrors are placed at the fenders. I guess you can see the blind spot, I think

The fender mirrors put the mirror more within line of sight for your eyes.

I think Doug DeMuro called it quirky and ended up liking them... I think it could have been the Toyota Century review
 
Some older cars way back when had the mirrors up high on the door or front pillar. Us old timers might remember constantly adjusting the mirrors as they always got bumped or knocked out of alignment when shutting the door. Plymouths were like that.
