Hello all! I have just purchased a 2007 5sp Yaris for a side contract/business. I have been driving and will be driving on average 2k miles a week. I bought the car last December and have already went form 84k to 109k on the odometer.

I am currently running Mobil EP with a Puralator Syntheic filter and change at 10K. My next drain I will have an analysis done at a local lab.

Does anyone have any recomendations? I like going with the Mobil Ep because the local Walmart does not carry the Ultra any longer.

I'd probably change the pcv valve out for a new oem version. Check level weekly along with all other fluids. Top off with Valvoline MaxLife or the Mobil HM oil if it starts to consume oil.

Id use the combo you are using and change it every 2 months. Get an analysis done after 2 months/16k miles.

With this usage pattern, 10k OCI should be a minimum. With oil analysis, you might be able to push that up much further, maybe to 15k miles or more.

Definitely stay with the good wire-backed synthetic oil filters in this application. Purolator Synthetic, Napa Platinum, WIX XP, Royal Purple or Fram Ultra.

For that kind of mileage, I'd sell the Yaris and buy either a Prius or 1st gen Honda Insight for the additional fuel economy, you'll need every bit you can get.

I have considered that but with me getting 40+ mpg (best tank 44.71 mpg) the payback would not be there........I average 70mph and I think at that speed the Prius will not that much better gas mileage. I only paid 6k for the car and the Prius would be much more. I will get the oil checked and extend accordingly.

Mobil 1 EP with Fram Ultra( it's better than Puralator Syntheic and cost less at Walmart) can be in service for 15-20k miles with your driving style.

Do an UOA at 14-15k miles without draining the oil to see how far you can go.

I have considered using the Fram Ultra but I am one of the old school guys and steer clear of Fram......all the good stuff I read on here about them is beginning to make me change my mind.

I would go 15K with M1 EP oil. M1 says special filters are not required with 15K OCI. A M1 filter would work well, but any quality filter is good for 15K.

"Side business" that takes up most of your time it sounds. Wow, isn't that like 175 miles one way? Any way around making that long drive and everyday? I'd go insane having to do that.

Isn't this the optimal usage profile for Amsoil Signature? Unless they specifically note that their filter can only go 15K in the Yaris, you may be able to make it to the 25K miles that they advertise. That would have you changing oil roughly every 3 months instead of every 3 weeks.

Why not think about a remote filter system, M1 EP, and a few UOA's to see how far you can stretch the oil change interval?

It might pay off in short order for you.

You are correct. The side business is the delivery of medical labs. I put 408 miles a day on my car.........I do have a normal 8-5 office job but I have the leisure and flexibility to have someone cover for me when needed.
