I went to advanced auto to buy a Purolator oil filter and there was not a single one.All there was Mobil 1 Fram and Car quest oil filters.I know Fram is bankrupt but Mobil 1 oil filter are going for $16.00.The car quest oil filter for my 2021 Subaru crosstrek limited looks like one you would put on a lawn mower. It was a very small filter made in Vietnam

AAP is currently liquidating Purolator and FRAM. The little girl at the parts counter told me they weren’t going to carry them anymore. As far as oil filters, I would take a CQP over a Purolator eight days a week. The Purolator One engine air filters look great, though. Very impressed with the ones I got for around $5.

The new Mobil 1 oil filters that I’ve seen look nice. The 113A that I use is $10 OTD at Rural King.

Check their clearance page on the internet. I was able to get a Purolator air filter for $1.95 and a Fram cabin air filter for $5.62 that fit my 2017 Nissan Frontier. I'm heading out this morning to hit a few more Advance stores in my area that the internet says have remaining inventory.

As for buying Purolator in the future, I suppose mail-order is the only remaining option. No brick and mortar stores in my area carry them any longer.

Been around this sub-forum and the internet for some time that AAP closing out Purolator filters. Unclear to me what the issue is with the Carquest Premium Subaru Crosstrek application. AAP look up shows the CQ Premium 84712 as the recommended application for the Crosstrek. Using Purolator look up, it shows the 14615 and it has the same dimensions as the CQ. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

AAP has half an aisle filled with Purolator air filters they marked at a reduced price. However many of the filters are for obscure vehicles that are not really around anymore. I saw filters for 80's Chevy Astrovans, Saturns, 90's Ford Aspire, Saab, old Volvos, and a few round air filters for cars with carburetors or TBI, etc.

The manager stated if something in the store rings up at $0.05 (5 cents) that it is an indication the item should be thrown away in the trash. I left the store with a few small items and old parts that were marked as such a few weeks ago.

Vietnam/China/QC is beating these companies. Once the competition starts the others follow. Throw in the stopping of parts & price hikes of a certain time it was an easy choice for these places to keep parts on the shelf. These other companies better start doing something to keep buyers happy. Menards still stocking Purolators.

Carquest filters are bettter than purolator so I wouldn’t judge them.

Thanks for the heads up! Just purchased two Fram Titanium cartridge oil filters for my GS 350. Easy to check for any defects. Despite their bankruptcy, these were still one of the most efficient filters. At $3 each I couldn’t resist.

The oil filters aren’t that cheap from China. I would pay a little more for the USA made Boss, sometimes they are on sale. Unfortunately I found for myself Fram isn’t making changes for the better, and Baldwin is living in 1970. They seem to have glue and some issues too.
I guess it’s a hobby when there is no reason to keep looking at oil filters when have enough for years.
