I was at advance today getting some delvac 1300 because walmart quit stocking it. They were out too so I had the counter person get me some from the stock room. Then he asked me what kind of truck I had. When I told him it was a powerstroke he said that delvac is for dodges and that fords use rotella.

I learn something new everyday. He then asked me if the delvac 1300 15w40 was a syn? Hows that for training.

You should have also asked him for some spark plugs for your diesel engine. Oh and a new distributor cap as well...

Look most of these guys are hired right off the street and thrown behind the counter. Training doesn't exist, they get OJT under fire from customers and management. Why not answer the guys question, helping him to learn what he needs to know. I garauntee some smart arse is where he got the idea about the Ford and Rotella.

There may be something behind it. Sometimes things are only learned through experience and not on through forums. However, on this case it's bogus. You can run either of those safely in your rig.

A while back, I went to AA to buy some Rotella T for an oil change in my Powerstroke. I asked the counter person since I'm buying the 4-1 gallon jugs to do my oil change, will they take my 15 quarts of used oil after the oil change? The counter person stated they can only take 5 quarts per visit. Well, I left the 4-1 gallon jugs of Rotella on the shelve and laughed before walking out.

I went to another AA and asked the next counter person the same question. He had no problem with me returning 15 quarts of used oil after changing my oil go figure?

I never had a problem returning up to 5 gallons of used oil at a time to AAP. The guys there know I buy oil from them, so they never say anything.

Lately I have used the waste oil recycle container here at work, no limit.
