Here's what has been seen. It's made by Purolator. Quality of construction is the same, however there is usually less filter media... or it may be a different media than what Puro uses on their "own" filters. Another difference may be that the ends of the filter media are simply glued, instead of being crimped together with a piece of metal. IIRC, it only has a black nitrile ADBV (when one is used), and not a better quality silicone unit.
I've used them in the past, and I still do (I still have one or two left over from the last "Buy one get one free" sale that Advance had). Haven't had a problem with any of them. A true bargain when they can be bought on the BOGOF sales.
Just like everything else, there's better choices out there... and there are worse choices out there as well.
Should it perform fine for 3 to 4,000 miles? Yes, it should. However, if you're looking at extended OCI's, then you need to spend a few more dollars on something else.
