I went into Oreillys today to get Havoline Synthetic and a Wix, and the Havoline Syn they had was not Dexos. I was in an Advance store the other day and got some Havoline Synthetic for the 02 Impala, and it had Dexos compliant on it. Anyone have a thought on this? Seems that if one Hav-Syn is dexos, the other one ought to be too. I looked at it two or three times to find the dexos thing, and it was not on there.

Havoline is an excellent oil, but it's not always the best seller. Wouldn't be surprised if it was just old stock that they had.

Yes it is. I just checked their ad a minute ago.

I ask as why would you need Dexos compliant oil for an 2002 Impala?

I'm curious about that too

He is probably under warranty still, LOL.

It probably was just old stock. All Havoline Pro DS is Dexos1 certified. Why would you need that for an 02 Impala? It isn't in warranty and the spec for that engine doesn't matter as long as it is an SAE 5w-30. Who cares about dexos1 oil. Havoline is great oil....run it like you stole it!!

It might be old stock. The older "metal screen" bottles were Dexos worthy but the old stock might have pre-dated chevron adding that label.

Run with confidence.

I just picked some up for my Malibu. Was also hoping to pick some up for my wife's Altima but they don't sell Havoline 0w20 at any O'Reily's store here in Oceanside.

Your only bet is online (maybe a distributor) and it cost about $6 per qt. Chevron just does not distribute it to the parts store... despite how often I write to Chevron.

When I bought the first stock, it it was for the 02 impala. The Oreilly trip was to get some for the 13 GMC Sierra, which calls for dexos. Thta is why I noticed the ProDS didn't have dexos on it.

A few months back when O'Reilly's started pushing the stuff regularly, mine had plenty of 0W-20. I assume that it didn't move very well and they stopped shelving it. But I would be surprised if the O'Reilly's guys couldn't get it overnight.
