On one hand a meal is a meal. On the other hand, some restaurants might sell kid's meals at a loss assuming adults will be with them generating profits and don't want adults talking advantage.
My wife's and my appetites have gone down this year. We used to laugh at my older friends sharing a lunch sandwich while I ate a full one myself. Now, I'm with the older folks. Half a sandwich is good for me, often.

I don't order kids meals because they usually have a limited selection, like Spaghetti or Chicken fingers. But I would if I know I couldn't finish a full meal.
I do it all the time for take out or room service. Some of those kid's meals are huge! I was staying at a Hyatt Regency that had sea bass on the kids menu, it was delish! Fleming's has filet mignon on the kid menu, you bet I ordered that.
Once I was at a “classy” brewpub where I ordered a kids meal for my then 8 year old. Picked wild Alaska king salmon. My kid really wanted Mac and cheese, where a kids meal was the only way to get it. I didn’t even see a regular salmon entree on the menu. I ended up eating the salmon.
