GTX 10w30 @100C => 10.6

I wouldn't even worry about it. Pennzoil conventional will make 3K without thinning further. Make sure you cut open that filter... because it should contain the most amount of crud cleaned out.

Started it up and let it idle for a few minutes and there is no ticking.
The only change is that I went from 1 quart of MMO with 4 quarts of Castrol 10-30 to 1 quart of MMO and 4 quarts of Pennzoil 5w30 (it was on sale).
I havent driven it yet but for the few minutes it was at idle I could not hear any ticking. Maybe the switch to 5-30 and MMO?

I changed it out at 2200 miles since my last OC I will go back to 3000 mile OCI after this one


Don't worry you'll be fine, just keep an eye on oil levels for first time MMO use. It should keep that lifter from ticking if dirt was the problem, and clean things up. Once you are done you can go back to your favorite oil and change interval. If you are concerned with keeping the engine clean add a pint of MMO for the last 1000 miles of your oil changes.
 
I added 2 oz of MMO (midway at 2500 mi on the oci), along with like half an oz of lucas zddp.

Does 2 oz of MMO going to do anything at all (2 oz is about a 1.6% dilution in the oil)?? It seems like it's zippier but I'm almost sure I'm imagining it.
 
2 ounces of MMO isn't going to do anything. Try at least a pint, or follow the directions on the label. It is not going to harm your engine.
 
It may produce a small amount of cleaning, but I would add a pint when you are closer to an oil change. I like to change the filter about 1000 miles before a OCI and top off with MMO
 
any reason why you guys only keep the mmo in the sump for 1k? I was thinking about running a full 3-5k oci (5 quart Pennzoil Conventional and 1 qt mmo) with it in my jeep this winter.

Some people are a little leary about MMO which is why they run it for only 1000 miles. Others are using it as part of a maint' program. A 3-5000 mile OCI would be no problem, I've done it more times than I can remember. You'll also notice easier cold starts with in it your oil this time of the year, which is a big plus.
 
well ill tell u one thing it helped my tired gmc 4.3 had a constant 25 to 30 second lifter tick now like 3 seconds helped my 90 ford econoline van to 351 ticked a little gone with this stuff

10.5/10.6 cSt conventional will sheer in less than 3k, to 5W20 weight (I use OEM spec'd 5W30), even without MMO. Some cars, like the slightly older Civic engines (pre-DI at least), enjoy being famous for being easy on oil. Corollas, not so much. I added 20 ounces, in 2 doses (12 + 8) spread about 1k apart, to a 4 quart sump for a 3k cleaning OCI with PP. It only started to thin toward the latter point of the OCI. I've used GTX and its sheering toward 20 weight after 1.5k in summer driving.

I'd be less concerned about the capacity of the filter. My 1ZZ-FE uses teacup sized filters and it was fine that OCI.

So should I keep the Pennzoil Conventional 5w30 with MMO in for the whloe OCI? or change it out by in 1.5k, this is my second OCI with MMO and it seems to be improving.
I can say this my motor seems to rev much smoother now it was kind of straining a little above 3k but now seems a lot more "free". The ticking is sporadic it comes and goes now so I am optimistic that after this OCI when I switch back to synthetic it should be gone.

I'd say run no more than 3k with the MMO in there. If the oil doesn't look too nasty, then you're good. If it starts to look really nasty, change it. If you're worried, swap the filter at 1.5k.
 
Pretty much agree with the above, but I wouldn't even swap a tea cup size filter in 1.5k. I'd run it for 3k then dump it and change both. If you use it again, just add it for the last 1k of your OCI. As your engine cleans up you can start increasing your OCI gradually to what the OEM specs. At this point I would use no more MMO than a pint going forward, mainly due to your climate and improvement so far, and preferably just the last 1k of the OCI.

Good to hear you are seeing nice results from the MMO. I'm a big fan of it as for bang for the buck and versatility it is, from my experience, unbeatable. Its also gentler than Seafoaming, and safer than harsh flushes like Gunk engine flush.

Yes so far I am very happy with MMO it has worked, it took a little time but I can say it has made an improvement in the way my motor runs and the ticking is almost gone. With 189K on my truck as of today I didnt expect much other than the ticking would stop but it has made it run smoother after the first OC and now that I am on my 2nd run with it in I am seeing some improvements in mileage not much but I went from 15 MPG to 17 MPG in the last 4 full tanks.
 
Oh I had one other question, Could I use MMO in a 91 Volvo 240? it has a 4 cylinder motor and I have been doing some searching here and I will start using 15-40 HDEO at some point as soon as I get my hands on some.
 
Of course you can use MMO in a 91 Volvo 240. Just follow the "normal" procedure, described in a few posts, before this.
