Added ARX, now Im concerned with something help pls.

I recently bought Auto-RX for my Isuzu Rodeo 1993 , it has 80k miles on it and has never seen an auto-rx treatment before. I put the auto-rx a few days ago and decided to drive a lot on the highway to try and get everything moved on.

Before adding auto-rx my oil level was in the middle between the ADD and FULL mark.

After a lot of driving on the highway and coming back home, after 3 days I see my oil level past the FULL mark. Is there anything I need to be concerned about?? Thanks again
 
I wouldn't worry - this isn't the first time someone has noticed this. How many miles on the treatment?

I don't want to speak for Frank and company - so best contact them for direct advice. (Maybe something like changing oil filter)
 
I wouldn't worry about it. Unless it is way overfull. Sometimes my oil shows abit over full when hot. After it cools down it will read normal.
 
Yeah, the car has been sitting overnight and I checked it today in the morning with everything cool, oil is a bit past the FULL mark, I guess I shouldn't worry then??

I think i'm only 100 miles on the treatment so far, I wonder if this means my engine is sludged up!!!
 
standard oil level check procedure calls for the following:

(1) start your engine (cold, left overnite, sitting 3+hrs, etc.) and let it idle for 30secs to 1 min. Turn off your engine afterwards.

(2)immediately, pull your dipstick and wipe the marker once. Stick it back in all the way and then pull your dipstick and read the marker.

If your oil level is between F and L, that's normal. You may top it up to exactly where the F mark is but never beyond that. Any overfilling is bad for it will cause excessive "frothing" by the crank and air bubbles introduction into your oil passage, causing momentary loss of oil pressure.

If your oil level is below the L mark, top it up accordingly.
 
What could be the reason the oil increased from the middle between add and full all the way to the full line after 3 days on ARX ??
 
If you don't see air bubbles on your dipstick, you should be fine. There's a little leeway with dipsticks and such things....

BTW Cherokee's owner's manual doesn't say anything about starting the engine and running it before checking the oil. In fact, it says let it sit for 'several' minutes if the engine was just shut off before checking the level.
 
You said your oil level was in the middle of add and full this would put your oil at 4 quarts and 28 oz.The auto-rx is working perhaps your oil filter is getting clogged and needs to be changed. Auto-rx is a great product.After my first usage I changed my oil filter at 500 miles and did not belive how clogged it was.
 
To tell you the truth , my engine must be really sludged up. My Isuzu runs at 6 quarts so I added the whole bottle up, 3 days later I found that it increased from middle to above full.

I'm gonna do what Frank said, change the oil filter and top off with oil. **** I'm afraid of losing every bit of auto-rx that might be in the oil filter

It's very rare that the "full" mark on a dipstick is the full specification capacity for the crankcase. I've seen over half a quart difference between the two in some instances.

I refill based on capacity rating and only use the stick to track consumption and for topoffs.

As long as it's not obscenely high and there is no evidence you are churning foam, I wouldn't worry if it's several ounces over "full".

A full filter is another issue altogether. It seems rather exceptional that yours would be fully loaded in just three days. But change it just to be sure. If it's full of sludge, then it's not full of oil or ARX, either.
 
The added volume is probably due to suspended sludge that was hanging up everywhere else in your engine. It's now in liquid form and taking up space in the sump.
 
Hey ...Hey!!! Any chance of you cutting the used one open?? It will make you feel much more "involved" in the process of cleaning your engine.

Never discount the feeling of "self" in these marvels of auto maintenance.
 
30 sec. to 1 min. of running is INADEQUATE to get the temps. up and then allow oil to drain down in order to get an accurate reading. You will trap cold oil up in the heads and the level will be erroneously low causing you to add.

Only check the oil when the engine is HOT. At least 5-10 min. of running (maybe even more in the winter). Probably a good rule of thumb is 5 min. after the engine temp. reaches normal.

Gary I need some help on cutting a filter open, is there a process here on how to cut a filter up, it will be my first time cutting a filter but I will do it.
 
I think in this situation you want a filter that has high capacity and flow, and not necessarily the best filtration rate. The stuff loosened by the ARX is fairly huge as contaminants go, and X micron filtration is useless if the element clogs and you're running in bypass. Just me, but as good as the Pureone is, I'd consider a Wix here, if only for the better bypass placement.

You can cut open a filter with a hacksaw, or a fancy filter cutter. If this is not going to be a regular activity, I'd just use a hacksaw and save the money.
