I like to expand my brain. I started reading about the WW2 battle on Attu, and that US had bases in Adak and Cold Bay already.

They even had a McDonalds on Adak. It closed in 1994.

For some reason makes me think of the Fortitude series

People romanticize AK but there's a reason no one (relatively) lives there. It's harsh, bleak and depressing -- obviously that's just my opinion. If you live there and love it you're in luck because you want what most people don't, which is a truly good position in which to be.

Yes. A buddy of mine in Army advanced training put Alaska on his wish list and got it. He had read all the glamorous hunting and fishing stuff. Where he was stationed there was nothing but a bowling alley for recreation.
