most all synthetics are highly processed CRUDE oils, better but not the best for some applications. Redline oils with Ester base oils will run cleaner + better all around + unless in extreme cold a 10W30 will be good IMO
UPDATE: very carefully checking my dipstick under same conditions, first thing in morning after letting car sit overnight, seems consumption is holding steady at a third of a quart per 500 miles, something I can live with.
