Hey all, I just picked up a 14 Acura RDX with 120k miles and wondering what service or what I should do soon?

For what I know is

Oil is fresh, transmission fluid was recently changed at Acura and was done before too thru carfax records, battery is good, not sure about the plugs but will dig into info about that soon, tires are good and brakes are good

Timing chain/belt has not been serviced as far as known, since I’m the 3rd owner and 2nd didn’t do it. So I guess I gotta plan for that asap

Anything else that should be asap? It drives fine imo

Ty!

Get the AISIN TKH-002 timing belt kit right from the get go. I got mine from Rock Auto for my recently sold 08 Acura TL done back in 2018 with 117K. I see Amazon has the kit right now priced for $194.99. The timing belt supplied in the AISIN kit is Mitsubishi. Thats what was supplied in my kit also. I only put 24K on the car after I had the job performed before I sold it. It that time --- zero issues. NGK or DENSO plugs would help.

Coolant, spark plugs, timing belt

The Aisin kit is usually good, but some people experience a warbling noise with the Aisin water pumps in the Honda V6 (Aisin isn't the OE supplier for this WP). This issue is specific to the Honda J-series V6. The noise is annoying, but it doesn't actually cause any problems. So, if the noise doesn't bother you, get the Aisin kit. Otherwise, keep reading.

Honda's OE supplier for the timing belt is Gates, and even the aftermarket Gates TB for your RDX seems to come from Unitta/Japan.

So you can get the Gates TB from Rock Auto, and one of the tensioners from Aisin (they don't have the other one listed), but get everything else from the dealer.
Rock Auto:
Gates T329
Aisin BTH001
NGK 7751 (x6) if you need new plugs

Dealer:
14510-RCA-A01 tensioner
14550-RCA-A01 pulley
19200-RDV-J01 water pump

It might be a good idea to replace the valve cover gaskets, if access to the rear spark plugs is difficult. If you decide to replace them, get the Mahle valve cover gaskets from Rock Auto.

Maybe replace the air filter and the cabin filter, if they weren't done recently with the oil or ATF

Your RDX uses blue coolant. Zerex Asian Blue and Pentofrost A3 are good choices that cost less than the dealer.

Congratulations on your new RDX!

We have a 2014 RDX. We are the second owners, not any issues whatsoever- fantastic vehicle.

Of course the timing kit needs to be replaced. One thing that is common is the front shocks may need to be replaced, symptom includes a sound like a failed sway bar bushing.

You will love the RDX, and have lots of time to do things other than work on the RDX- as your RDX is rock solid dependable.

If you change the trans fluid in the future- here is a thread about the exchange:

And of note- an older thread on the reliability of the 2014 RDX:
