Does anyone know of any alternative to the Honda VTM-4 fluid that is reguired to be changed every 15K miles? The Amsoil website thats lists all the various fluids for any given vehicle says to use the Honda VTM-4 fluid. I assume is special due to the advanced all wheel drive.

It doesn't look like anything special. But, besides the VOA's info, there could be other additives not seen.

Stick with the OEM fluid until the boutique oil companies whip something up. Or, be a daredevil and use another ATF.

There are a bunch of Hondacura threads concerning their specials fluids. Search for VTM.

Careful with that system. Use only the genuine fluid until tested aftermarket alternatives are available. The genuine fluid isn't that expensive and is worth its cost until other options are available.

It's important to keep up with the recommended fluid changes given the small sump size of the unit. Due to the design, the fluid is contaminated quite quickly hence the need for such frequent service. Failure to change the fluid may result in shudder.
