ACEA C2 to ACEA C1 oil

Can I safely change from a 5w30 ACEA C2 spec oil to a 5w30 ACEA C1 spec oil? I'm thinking this will give a longer life to the DPF due to the lower ash content. Vehicle is a 2014 Fiat Doblo 1.6 Multijet (198A3000) turbo diesel.

I would think so.
It's an upgrade in specification requirements, and probably costs more $$ .

C2 and C3 are mid-saps (0.5-0.8%). C1 and C4 are low saps ( C1 and C2 have 2.9 HTHS.
C3 and C4 have 3.5 HTHS.

Nevertheless, C1 seems to be the hardest to find. Maybe you can find a near 0.5~0.6% saps C2 oil ?

Was looking at Liqui-Moly Top Tec 4500. http://www.liqui-moly.eu/liqui-moly...&vcmstemplate=mobile&redirect=1. I can get it here in South Africa at a similar price to the 5w30 C2 rated oils.

Been doing some more research and must agree with you. C4 looks the way to go. Low SAPS, higher HTHS, and lower NOACK. The only one I can easily obtain here in South Africa is this Ravenol: https://www.ravenol.de/en/products/...s-hydrocrack-diesel-specific-5w30.html. Looks to be pretty decent.
