The last AC I remember looking at was a PF 1127. It still had to old style dome end bypass.

My local WM doesn't carry the ST version of the PF61 (ST3675) any more.

Can you cut the media off the end caps and measure the total surface area? The e-core large core tubes look like they would force a smaller filter surface area with short pleat depth. Dont like that. My 4.3 ran quieter with the traditional champ design delco- used an e-core and pulled it of in 2 days due to engine noise.

Just curious, how would you describe the engine noise? Just start-up?
My chevy was quiet at startup - more like a resonance - vibrated the RVM.

Ahh, I cant the filters gone. If I remember I will cut the media on my current non-ecore pf 52 on my truck when I do a oil change.
My 4.3 and 5.3 never noticed the different filters, only thing I did notice was in the 4.3 I got higher startup oil pressure than with the classic champ filters. Not much but noticeable difference.
