Can you cut the media off the end caps and measure the total surface area? The e-core large core tubes look like they would force a smaller filter surface area with short pleat depth. Dont like that. My 4.3 ran quieter with the traditional champ design delco- used an e-core and pulled it of in 2 days due to engine noise.

Ahh, I cant the filters gone. If I remember I will cut the media on my current non-ecore pf 52 on my truck when I do a oil change.


My 4.3 and 5.3 never noticed the different filters, only thing I did notice was in the 4.3 I got higher startup oil pressure than with the classic champ filters. Not much but noticeable difference.
