Accord transmissions

Our 03 had a recall. We also had an issue with it slamming gears so hard (when new) that it would engage TCS. So I would say 2003 was certainly not a good year for them.

But in Honda's defense, they have replaced most of the transmissions through a good will program. Most of the transmissions have been failing post 100K miles. It's not every single trans either. There are plenty of them still on the road with the original transmissions in them. I guess you could go get a Toyota........

because those people are driving older hondas that aren't design the same. but i have to agree with you, that honda doesn't know their auto tranny as well as other manufactures.

My father killed the first transmission in his TL at 65k, they replaced that for free. When that one went out at 109k they wouldn't do anything for him. He is in his late 50's and drives like an old man, so it's not like they saw a lot of abuse.

How many manufacturers would give you a free transmission after 100K???? Honda did that for a lot of owners. You have to get the service manager to call the regional office.

Yep, 6th generation ('98-'02) 4-cyl & V6 with 4-speed auto had issues. There was a warranty extension on '00-'01 for ~ 100k miles or 7 years I believe it was. They really should have done this for all 6th generation ATs.
The 7th generation Accord was fitted with a 5-speed auto. They seemed to have fixed those by '05. I believe it was mainly the V6 in the '03-'04 that had the TSB issued, oil jet kit, etc.

The 98-02 V6 ones had issues, the four-cylinders are a hit/miss.

03 V6 had problems as well.
