Not sure if the transmission was slipping or the car was having a moment.

I’m not sure if the transmission is screwed up on the Accord or if it was just tweaking. However, my younger brother was at the gym with Dad's 2013 Accord EX (CVT). He called me, saying he put the car in drive, and it started to shake violently. There was no check engine light or anything. He put it back in park, and it was fine. When he started driving on the road, all of a sudden, the RPMs rose to 3,000, but the car wasn't moving as fast as it should have at that RPM. He went back to the parking lot, turned the car on and off, and everything was fine. 1 owner car. The transmission fluid was changed 3 times with OEM Honda fluid. The car is sitting at 128k miles.

Sure doesn't sound fine. But it may not be the transmission--a misfire or poor running might have caused the vibration, and then the loss of power may have caused it to be at high rpm while not making forward progress. I would not fixate on the transmission just yet.

Hmm, I am assuming if it was a misfire, it wouldn't misfire again when he drove home. Also, CEL might've flashed.

Idle air control valve possible goid bad? Does the transmission have a filter. Vacuum line come off? I was doing work on my neon recently and the throttle body hose slipped some causing a high idle.

If it's like my 2016 crv then the cvt trany has 2 filters. Search YouTube videos about changing them. Both should be changed around 90 K miles. One requires dropping the pan, one is high up in the engine bay beside the engine. The one inside the trany that you have to drop the pan to get to is a flat type, the one high up in the engine bay is recessed into the aluminum of the engine and trany and is a small round type that also has a couple O rings.

Use a torque wrench when tightening all things while working on it. Tekton sells good quality torque wrenches on amazon for a good price. You will need both a 1/4 inch drive and a 3/8 inch drive torque wrench.
