Accord alternator problem?

I had the alternator replaced with a non eom alternator about two months ago. Battery is almost new.

When I accelerate hard the battery light comes in and sometimes when the car decelerates quickly it comes in. The serpentine belt was changed recently and it is fine.

Could it be the after market alternator?

Does it have an overrunning clutch? That could be bad.

Wow, I've never heard of Honda's needing new alternators; the OEM Denso and Hitachi ones are rock solid. Aftermarket alternators are always a gamble. Many just don't last.

The last Honda alternator I replaced was on our '76 Civic.
It was a Denso, IIRC, although it could have been a Hitachi.
The next seven Hondas we've had needed no such thing.
In fact, I don't think I've replaced an alternator on anything since.
Newer cars have plenty of alternator output and alternators seem to last the life of the car.
You probably got a junk rebuild.
May have a bad diode pack.

If you still have the old one, have a local rebuilder rebuilt it.

Has the new alternator been used to charge up a dead battery?

You rechecked the alternator connectors?

Battery connections clean?

Most places that check batteries can also check the alternator.

Do you have a DVM? You should. Somehow measure the battery voltage while driving to see what the voltage is when the light comes on.

Seems to me a quirk of Hondas is the Electronic Load Detector. It's a shunt resistor used to measure load current so the alternator switches between low output and high output to take on the additional load. Those have been known to fail, and it might look like a bad alternator.

This is exactly why I helped a friend of mine replace, twice, the alternator in his girlfriend's 2007 Toyota RAV4. Got a reman from AutoZone, and it'd do the deal where the battery light would come on during high RPM or fast acceleration. AutoZone employee tested it and said it was good. I suggested he rev the engine to around 4,000 and then test it; the light came on and showed bad. AutoZoner scratched his head, but had another one shipped to the store. We installed that the next day and that one is still running fine.

put in a nippon denso alternator, voila, no more problem! Thanks for the input everyone!!!
