We have success! I haven't been an active member of the Nissan Frontier forum in years, but I figured I'd check back in over there and see if anyone had any similar experiences. Their input was that the blower resistor I mentioned earlier was a likely culprit. I figured I'd spent $70 on stupider stuff, so I would give it a try. It was a really quick and easy swap, and my AC is back. Game on!
I attached an old/new comparison. Looks like some of the coating had come off the old one. Not sure if that is the failure point, or something else.
