I just replaced my Oil Pressure Guage on my 2002 SILVERADO 4.3 V6, it has 157,000 miles on it.
I have been using MOBIL 1 HM 5w30 FULL SYNTHETIC, with K&N Oil Filter -

My mechanic has suggested I just use AC DELCO OIl Filters and Switch to CASTROL 5w 30 HM ( SYNTHETIC BELND )

I really want my truck to make it 300,000 Miles, I change air filters, Oil changes religislouly, ( I am seeing little leaks and stuff here and there ), fuel filters etc, distrubutor cap rotor etc

Advice tips?

Valvoline MaxLife Syn Blend is tried and true. Pair that with a Fram Ultra and you're solid.

But then again, not a thing wrong with M1 HM. I don't see any reason to change to Castrol.

What about Oil Filters? My Mechanic said K&N Oil Filters are good but it does make the Oil Guage act funny, even though the Oil Guages are highly innacurate . .. He said on Chevys AC DELCO works best.

As reported here in my signature I have a '99 Silverado with a 5.3L. Currently using M1 5W30 and an AC Delco PF46E. I've changed the oil 3 times and each time installing a new PF46E. To begin my truck has no leaks and just about to hit 80K miles. Since owning the truck I've reached speeds of 90 MPH many times, driven up and down Big Bear mountain, sat in lots of LA stop and go traffic and each time I have removed and inspected the AC Delco filter, it looks to be in good shape. I'm not one to cut open an oil filter so I can't say that I've done so, I simply used a flash light and spend 5 minutes giving a very close look. I will continue to use this oil filter, however this is just my experience.

Well at the bottom of the oil filter, on my K&N I do notice at there is Oil drip residue.

Better options are the PF 46 and the PF 46F. Ecores are bottom-of-the-barrel and you are flirting with a future issue, while continuing to use 46Es.

The syn-blend HM oils will usually leak less or stop leaks better than a full syn HM oil IME. The full syn HM oils with better cleaning ability may remove anything (dirt, etc.) blocking the leak by the gasket. K&N is over-priced, you can get a Mobil 1 filter for less, or Bosch D+, Fram Ultra, Puro Syn, etc. and they're just as good or better for a premium filter.

Mobil 1 High Mileage is an EXCELLENT oil. You can keep using that if you don't mind the cost - but pretty much any Pennzoil, Quaker State, Castrol, Mobil, or Valvoline oil in the 5w30 variety would work well also. (Note: Some people in warm climates like Texas find that GM engines run a bit quieter on 10w30 for some reason. Mine did when I lived there.)

As for oil filters... Personally I really like Wix/Napa Gold filters for GM engines. K&N was really really good at one time, but a couple of years ago they stopped making them in the U.S. - most of them are made in China now... Unfortunately, it seems that the Chinese filters don't perform as well as the U.S.-made ones did (less efficient). Most would say that they are now very much overpriced. If you want a filter that is a lot like the K&N used to be, go with Mobil 1 oil filters. Fram Ultra filters are also very good. I've run Wix/Napa Gold, Fram Ultra, Mobil 1, K&N, Bosch, Purolator P1 and syn, and AC Delco filters on my 5.3, and my favorite is still Wix/Napa Gold. Mobil 1 / Old (USA-made) K&N is a close second.

Ac delco pf47 or pf52 (I believe the 4.3L uses these) are great filters. I would use them over k&n. U can try any HM oil and see if it helps with leaks, but your previous oil choice is plenty good

Nada!! Both filters you list have the black nitrite ADBV. No thanks!

Stay away from the E-Core AC Delco and you should be just fine with those. K&N work fine but cost twice as much as the (non e-core) AC Delco filters. Wix/Napa Gold would be fine too. Or go Fram Ultra and do two OCI's on it (assuming
M1 HM is great oil, no reason to change (down grade) to a semi-synthetic except to maybe save money.

I sold my old 1500 WT 95 chevy to a friend 5 years ago,,, it was at 259..now he is at 342k and it runs great .. the frame is cracked in three spots and cab mounts are rotted but it is great other than that.

That 4.3 is great

Pretty much this. Delco would be more than fine.

If you really want a better filter, just add a fram ultra to whatever oil you use...

Agree w/danthaman: K&N oil filters, when they were made in the USofA by Champion Laboratories, were decent but overpriced. Now that they are made in China and Korea, and the quality had dropped considerably but the price hasn't, they are no longer decent and are WAY overpriced.

Also, why does your mechanic think Castrol syn-blend is better than Mobil 1, which is full-syn?

The mechanic may feel the Castrol HM works better than the Mobil-1 HM, for stopping leaks.
