Ac delco Pf454 removed from 2003 chevy avalanche 2500 4x4 with the vortec 8100 engine. Unknown miles the mileage was a few miles over the dealership oil change interval. Replaced with a wix filter. It seemed to hold up pretty well.
It is kind of hard to tell from the photos, but are the ends made from cardboard material? If so this is the same design that Champion Labs was ridiculed so much for as being to fragile of a filter that could possibly let contaminants by pass the filter media. This is one reason I have lost faith in AC Delco branded filters.

They look like pretty thick non-metal end caps in the OP's photos, same as many other filters. You might be talking about the ones that had a super thin non-metal end cap material (that you could almost see through) that was barely bonded to the pleats.
