AC Delco e cores only at my Walmart.......

Well it finally happened.

The last of the regular AC Delco's finally sold out and the shelves are just full of e cores.

Only the dreaded Fram and two e core choices are available for my GM product.

Guess I have to just keep buying the Purolators at Advanced Auto.

I think the e-cores ar ebetter than the old design. More room for oil to flow through the paper...

+1 At least most for GM applications Purolators don't have the junky dome end bypass.

In the past, AC's had half again more media as a Purolator.

I just can imagine the "plastic" inner cage melted into a ball and stuck in an oil galley somewhere in my LS2.

I'm sure that's not possible, but........

No Ecores available for my apps, but I have 160 K on a Ecotec that has nothing available without the plastic cores. Ecores have been around for several years now and the only real problem I have seen posted here was an engine with the bypass blocked off. No reason not to buy an Ecore unless you work for Botch.

I am sure the engineers had thought of that. I don't think they want law suits. The filters are fine, and in my opinion better in design. You just have to accept change sometimes..

Nothing wrong with E-Cores at all. I use them now on my girlfriend's car and I wouldn't hesitate to buy and use another.

Sorry. I'm not going to. No more blue filters for me.

Everything that used to run with a blue filter around here will go over to ProSelects.

I have use many Ecore in my old Saturn and cut just about everyone of them open and never see a problem.

I can't imagine the plastic melting on an e-core filter because i am not going to use them pretty simple

I am not worried about plastic core just that the fiber end caps peel away too easy for my liking.

On a related note does anyone know for sure if the AC Delco ecore media is the same as the media in the SuperTech ecore? The filters appear identical on the outside, and look the same when viewing the media through the nylon cage with a flashlight. We know Champ makes both. I like the ecore filter but why pay 3.67 vs. 2.50 at my Walmart for the PF61/ST3675 just to get a pretty blue filter?

Buy one of each, cut them open and have a look. The quality of the media is hard to tell. You could see if they have the same amount.

Addressed a couple of weeks ago. Champ Labs will not provide specifics. Previous Champion comments indicated to me (reading between the lines) that the media may be somewhat different between brands depending on the spec in the contract for that particular label. The media type appears to be the same from a visual inspection so maybe it is surface area difference. For my GM application I am using ST and keeping the $1.17 to super size my value meal once every 6 months.

We do manufacture the SuperTech filters and the A/C Delco filters as well. Although, we manufacture them to each companies specifications. All this information is proprietary to them. I have no access to release specific specifications on their products. I can tell you the SuperTech filters are a very good filter for the money. They will have very similar design, and both do use a premium media. We manufacture approximately 20 different brands of filters here, and the Supertech filters are one that I do use on my own vehicle, and never had any issues with them. The SuperTech filters do meet the specifications of the OE filters that they are intended for. Sorry I couldn't be of further help, but let me know if you have any further questions I can help you with.
