The graph makes Dexos look good, but how about they graph Dexos against full synthetic oil?

Yes GM says you can run any API 5w30 oil BUT it does recommend M1 for the Corvette.
So basically there would be no motor oil related warranty issue with GM as long as you run an API 5w30 grade and that includes mineral oil.

I'm not on board with this Dexos thing. I mean, GM6094M used to assure you were getting a decent conventional oil and really, to me, didn't mean much. HOWEVER - when an oil met GM4718M I really knew it was a good spec oil since only syn lubes could meet the demanding spec. Now, I see a semi-syn oil labeled Dexos that claims to be suitable for the GM4718M. I call [censored]. I have even read internal GM papers about Dexos and I am still not convinced this is the way GM should be going.

Personally I prefer that a manufacturer to "recommend" rather than "require" any particular motor oil.
The benefit of a 4718M oil only really applied in high oil temp' situations that you would encounter possibly on the track. For street use only it was not necessary.
