This morning, I went out to put a few things for work in my car, on the driver side door, someone put a hug metal Realtor sign up against my car, scratching the driver side door. Now I'm trying to figure out what I did to deserve this, and why the sign is there, or why someone is stupid enough to rest a giant metal sign against someone's car?

I don't think I'm on my neighbor's bad side, (the sign was from his yard), I said hi to him once, but I consider myself a good neighbor (I don't have loud music, and I keep the yard up, and to keep the bright lights down a night time, I drive the final 300 feet of out dead end street with the lights off). I can see perfectly of course while going 10mph.

It couldn't have been any friends of mine, since I haven't associated with any one of them since August. So now I'm stumped on who, how, and why this happened.

First thing to do is breath and just remind yourself it is a vehicle and can be repaired. I know how hard this is, I woke up the morning after buying my Charger to find someone had gauged the hood during the night.

Second thing to do is call the realtor company and see if they were in the area or if they've got any homes for sale in that area.

Call the realtor. At least there is an associated #? You can hold their sign hostage

They are worth money to them.

Out of curiosity, did your neighbour cut their lawn yesterday?
Reason I ask is that the sign may have been removed while they cut the lawn and placed temporarily against your car.
Dependant on proximity of course.
Not unusual for people to do something ignorant like that and then forget it.
If the timeline matches with you being at home, then you have your answer. Other than that, just get the car fixed and speak to your neighbour.

Where was the sign when you went inside for the night last night? Wonder if the real estate co can be held liable for damage to your car?

The wind would not have been a factor since the neighbor who's house was for sale lives 2 doors down from me. The house right next door is for sale too but has a different realtor sign. I'll confront him when I get him.

That's messed up.

At minimum, spray paint a big black X over both sides of the sign and throw it back over in their yard.

If it hits anything shiny, so much the better...

Pics of the 'damage'.
Was the scratch the kind you can rub out with a little bit of spit and your finger?

The first scratch on any car is the worst one!
