I have a ABS light on my 01 Sunfire. When I hooked it up to a computer it says open or failure front left wheel. I replaced the ABS sensor and the wiring looked fine. How ever the light is still on, any suggestions?

JC1: I was told you can't clear ABS codes, they would reset once the problem is gone. Maybe the guy was full of [censored] (this was at Autozone). I also went to oreillys and used there scanner. I kept clearing the code, but it would stay present

CT8: I replaced it because that was the only ABS senor not showing any speed when driving. It was also the one producing the codes.

Ohm test the sensor, you can unplug the module (with the sensor still plugged in) and ohm test the sensors all the way through the wiring to confirm wiring is intact.

Check that the tone ring on the hub or CV joint facing the sensor is present and intact.

How clean is your ABS wheel? Is it broken/cracked?

The wiring goes bad. Right in the right angle where the wire meets the connector. The copper flexes and metal fatigues itself.

You can splice a new pigtail in. Though the old stuff is twisted the new stuff doesn't have to be as perfect-- though you could chuck it in a drill and twist it in no time. GM uses the same connector in bunches of things so you can grab a few from a junkyard-- but, preferably, not from the ABS system.

Use heat shrink over the splices; it's wet down there.

I agree with eljefino- 99.9%, it's the wire harness. Find a spot well beyond the control arm on the subframe and splice it.

If you peel the insulation back, many times you can pick one wire at a time and try to pull small sections. When you get to the broken section it'll have give to it.
