Wife is not happy with the height of the TV. The TV is mounted above the fireplace (see picture) and yes the TV is high up, with not many options.

Came across a company called Mantel Mount, which makes above mantel drop down mounts. Don't know anything about their mounts, but they range from about $500 USD to $800 USD

Two items that are of concern (1) the ability of the mount to seamlessly line up will wall studs, (2) cables, cords, and a router are hidden behind the TV, not sure how a moving TV will impact the hiding of the cords, and not promote the cords coming loose.

Yes, that is an uncomfortable height for the TV to be mounted at. Another concern would be the heat from the fireplace if you want to use both at the same time. Beautiful room though, looks really comfortable and inviting.

I like the house, looks great. Would just lowering the tv on the existing mount 6+ inches appease her? I don’t see why the mantel mount wouldn’t work, it looks like any other mount that will hit the studs. Zip ties should keep the cords in place.

That is a very unique mount. Hopefully you have something very substantial behind that wall to support all that weight and stress on the wall structure.

1. Get a TV big enough to fill that recess and move the couch back to decrease the upward viewing angle.

2. Raise the sitting area 3 steps.

3. Put the TV in front of the fireplace. Play fireplace videos on YouTube when you want a fire.

4. Get taller furniture.

Issue is the TV isn't centered in the "box" if lowered. Wife needs everything "dress right dress".

I've had TV's mounted above gas log fireplace for 15 years. Never had an issue with one TV that had 7 years of use and the current one is going on 6. Previous TV still works fine we just moved it downstairs.

TVs mounted above fireplaces are terrible for watching TV on. TVs should be at eye level, when sitting normally. Find a different location.
You see the room- very open to your recommendations. I haven't identified a feasible alternate location.

That is the million dollar question. And also an additional requirement for new construction- build TV mount location to support additional weight. The contractors are putting conduit for power and data and sound, but what about weight?

That room setup is not ideal.

Looks great how it is... but pretty busy and not much adjustment possible.

Couch distance is ok for standard logic (distance to tv)
but at that height its a bad angle.

Couch could be moved farther back(move stand behind couch) and tv lowered 6-7" to partially improve the angle issue.
or get a couch you don't sit straight in (or all 3)

Wife only will allow a recliner in the garage... welcome to my world.

The garage, outside, vehicles are my domain. The interior of the house is her domain, and she will not allow me to have a recliner for multiple reasons.

The couch we have is Flexsteel. The benefit of Flexsteel couch is all the pieces are modular, and can be adjusted easily to flow in most any living space. Flexsteel is not inexpensive. I love the Flexsteel as I can easily move out of a room, onto a truck, unload, and in another room without any help from another person, or worry can I get it through a door or will it fit. The below pictures/ graphics are not of our exact furniture model, but gives a visual on how Flexsteel is so easy to modify.
