Servicing my my SantaFe today I went to top off the coolant. Had the coolant reservoir open and ready to go. Found a Zerex jug and it felt like just the right amount, a few ounces. Shook it up and was ready to dump. Hovering over the fill opening at the last moment I thought I smelled petroleum. Poured a bit into the cap and it was filthy oil.

I sure don't remember using that jug for old oil. Thankfully I averted a mess. I used to think it was so stupid that people did stuff like that but I learned that yes it can happen to anyone ;)

There is a lean manufacturing term called Poka-Yoke. The basic idea is to set things up so mistakes can't happen. In this case keeping waste oil containers in a completely different location is the fix.
I bought a waste oil container so there is no chance that there is coolant in there.

I can be as stupid as anyone it seems! So I mark up the waste oil containers so its obvious they are waste. I just need to get rid of them now... ;)
