1999 Olds silhouette (110,000 miles) with a leaking oil pan gasket. I decided I would try A-RX before i took in to get repaired. During cleaning phase I almost thought it was leaking more, but 500 miles into rinse phase the leak has stopped. Consider me a believer! Good stuff. Thanks

Auto-rx stopped an oil pan leak, I doubt it.

Your right I bet my neighbor came over in the middle of the night and changed the gasket while I was sleeping, and forget to tell me. Here are my observations
1. leaking oil from oil pan gasket.
2. Started using auto-rx
3. 500 miles into cleaning phase no more leaks on oil pan or floor
Please give me your hypothesis on what stopped the leak!

I don't have any idea what stopped the leak and neither do you. I will bet that a cleaning agent did not stop an oil pan leak.

Ugly3, why do you think that Auto-Rx didn't stop the leak? Do you have any personal experiences showing something else? There have been so many people who have experienced this, that it cannot be neglected.
Maybe you know something that could be useful for us here at BITOG?
If so, why don't you share with us?

This is not a seal leak it is an oil pan leak. How is a cleaner going to stop an oil pan leak? If anything it would get worse as the junk is removed.

If you really care, UGLY3, you can go to the webzite www.auto-rx.com . At that place you can read why A-Rx can stop an oil pan leak. Or you can continue to make statements about things you aren't familiar with.

Wrong oil allows the gasket edges to varnish over. Then the gasket set dries out and might leak. The ARX must have cleaned the gasket surfaces so that the oil could feed and swell the gasket.

I have switched many higher mileage engines that had been fed dino oil to synthetic oil. They tend to leak here, then weep there, then finally leak and weep nowhere (Except for M1; it leaks out forever). Syntec and RTS do the best job of fixing the gaskets and staying in the engine in my experience. Looks like ARX can shorten the process.

I dont think so, I'm the first to say Autorx is a heck of a product, but he makes a valid point.

I am experiencing similar results: about 750 miles into cleaning phase on an Alfa Romeo 3.0 SOHC V6 in a Milano Sedan. Several small but persistant oil leaks have stopped completely.

Perhaps this really is a seal leak, running down and looking like a gasket leak. Leaks are pretty difficult to find sometimes, especially in a van engine location. The other possibility is perhaps ring sealing has much improved, causing less crankcase pressures, or even less fuel dilution leading to thinning of the oil. If it did solve a seal leak, then it was a direct effect of ARX. But it is possible that ARX could indirectly help as well.

I think it was because of the way he stated that Auto-Rx didn't work for Hawkeyes.
In a way he aked for it.
He should know that Hawkeyes did not perform a scientistic testing of this product and Hawkeyes only reported the results he saw.

I didn' mean to start a feud. Here is what I saw. I saw leaking from upper oil pan where bolts hold oil pan to engine bottom. I am not an mechanical guru by an means!

Al i know is the leak stopped. I may be ignorant to exactly where leak was or whether it was gasket or seal, but I do know it stopped!

So you guys are doubtful that it can stop a gasket leak? I don't know whether it can or not, but the A-RX or just darn luck stopped my leak!

It's very possible Autorx stopped your leak, but I am also saying Ugly has a valid point. It is "possible" that either point was true, but without knowing exactly what happened you can't disprove either. That's what this site is about, constructive points a view even if they differ. I am leaning towards Autorx helping your seal becasue of the simple fact is was leaking but after your application it wasn't.

Do you think this is luck ? It's not it is all about performance-mileage-customer who follows Auto-Rx applications and his results.

Dear Frank,
I am writing to you about my experiences using auto rx. In the last couple of years,
i have ordered 6 bottles for my cars. Car # 1 is a 89 dodge with the 3.0, with 185000
mi.It was using 1 quart every 400 mi., and blowing a ton of smoke out the back. After
the 1st treatment, it stopped almost all the smoke, and was using 1 quart every 850
mi, that was great. Car # 2 is a 97 dodge caravan with transmission issues. Every time it
got cold, it wouldn't shift very well, #@$%! it would shift #@$%! after it was warm. So in
went 6 oz of rx,drove it the 1000 mi., man what a differance! Shifting was great, and after
i gave it a full flush, it worked even better,like new. Car # 3 is a 2001 chevy 1500,v6,
with 125000, i ran 2 bottles thru it, and the mileage went from 17 to 21 mpg., all
hand calc.amazing! Car # 4 is a 98 1 ton chevy cube van, with a 10 ft box, we use
for trade shows around the country. Before treatment 11 mpg, and 1 qt. every 3000.
After 1st clean and rinse, 13.5 mpg, and 1/2 qt every 3000, super; my dad thinks
i'm a genius. Last bottle went in 2002 dodge stratus with 53000 mi. no issues just
peace of mind.
By the way frank, i just ordered 5 more bottles.
Thanks for your super product.
David T
