If he didn't make you sign a non-disclosure agreement, then I suppose what you're doing is legal, but it still smacks of dickery.

Chlorine bleach does very well in the one-arm-bandit test, but I don't want that in my motor, either.

thats exactly the point.
this additive works well in most applications, but a tiny company with 1 guy cant possibly test all applications, i doubt a huge company can even.

but testing needs to be done to improve it, its not like other additives, there are other materials in it also, i wasnt told what they are, but the samples would tell that.

If you add some dye to it, and then give it a mysterious name and create some marketing in the style of many of the snake oils out there, you don't need to go through any of the testing. The fact you believe it works with the right marketing might just be enough.

This look too be more of a legal issue than anything imo.

do you have permission too promit this product like you have begun too here? Seems if its truly unique too anything not already in use, it would require some official testing, licensing, approval by government agencies, epa, and list list goes on and on and on....

seems you may have good intentions in your eyes, but as many have already stated, from the outside looking in, looks like you are trying too heist something here. any ethical company would shun the act, as they would not be interested even if it were the best thing since sliced bread.

just my 2 cents.....

ps. last time i looked up some specs on PQIA (yesterday), there were ALOT of oils already using boron and moly....also you may be way behind the curve already, as some of them are no longer using moly and boron, or using less of those and have moved on too titanium instead.

please dont take what i said the wrong way, if you truly have something unique and special, im sure it has merit, the legality of things these days and the approach is what many here are trying too bring light too, myself included.

im a college aged kid, i cant deal with legal stuff im in no position.

i mostly wanted to throw the info out publicly to see if anyone had a lead.

What was the background of the guy who "developed" the boron/moly based friction modifier? Did he work in a lab? Where did he get the ingredients from?

It is extremely unlikely what he came up with was that unique. We do have some tribologists as members (Molekule) you could PM to learn more about what you have and go from there.

i researched more and it does seem that it isnt unique in that the materials are readily available, they are just expensive.
