A message from John Force

So glad to see John up, shaking and moving. He'll be back. I'd love to see him do the burnout, back up, stage the car and HIT IT!!!!!!! Just one last time, then close the book. John you've done all you can do. Sit back and enjoy the fruits of you life.

I've always liked John Force. I bet he'd be a hoot after a good dinner and a couple beers! He sounds older but I he hasn't lost a step.

He will IF he wants to.

You guys should know that was unscripted, just talking off-the-cuff.
Force has been awesome on/off the track for decades and accomplished far more than most can only dream of. At the end of the day he needs to walk away while he can still walk. Of course every type of brain injury varies, but I don't care how good recovery/treatment might be, the brain will never be as fine tuned as it was leading up to any sort of injury on that level. His reflexes, response time, possibly vison/hearing, etc. will definitely be affected and it's time to let it go.

I know him and several people at JFR, personally. He's an adult, and can and will make his own decision on whether he drives again. He can retire from driving, and just hang out at the races, and possibly Jack would become a regular JFR driver. I know he'd like to. Funny Cars are a lot more exciting than Elevators.

Everyone involved knows the risks. Ultimately, the decision is up to John.

True to a degree with it being his decision, but I would seriously question him passing safety regulations to drive again. Of course he should recover more in time, but the description of his injuries, actions speaking, etc. clearly is something that likely will never heal 100%.

Makes no difference how determined/optimistic one can be, brain injury is one thing that just can't be beaten. I have been battling an acquired brain injury from a debilitating illness just over 6 yrs now and it's a rude awakening to put it mildly. I hope he continues to improve, but his days are getting numbered.

I will probably take heat for this but I will say the quiet part out loud, the dude needs to retire from active racing. He has nothing left to prove and will be the GOAT for many decades to come regardless. Would hate to see him become the martyr of the sport.

The man was still nailing hole-shots - but engine exploded at speed.
Would love to hear more of what they are doing to improve barriers like what he hit …

Though I think you are making very good points here.

I will quote Dale Earnhardt Sr… “ If I get killed driving a race car on the track. That isn’t a tragedy. Because I am out there doing what I love. Now if I get killed driving in my truck on my way to the barbershop to get my hair cut… Then that’s a tragedy.”

That was from a story on CBS during one of the Daytona 500 races from the very late 1980s.

Something tells me John Force could well feel the same way.

The crazy part about Dale Ernhardt Sr. Was that he had the money and access to alot including a HANS Device. Many a person in the racing community said he'd still be here today if he had worn one.
