A little Megs here...

It was a bit surprised to find some of Meg's Mirror Glaze products at my local O'Reiley's, at pretty decent prices. I've always wanted to give MG a try, and with my gift card (have enough oil), I can. I'm looking for simple, great shine, and will survive from spring until fall, when I put the Nufinish back on for the winter. My thoughts at the moment:

#6 cleaning wax
#7 show car glaze
#26 hi tech yellow wax liquid


Thoughts?

Sounds Good but go with the Meguires in the Tan bottles they sell at napa. I detil cars on the side and the Meguires Pro line (tan botttles) works much better and lasts much much longer,

Love my gold class too...has worked good on my cars. Just feel like trying something new I guess....

The products he listed are tan bottle line. And it does not sound good at all. #7 and #26 is a good combo but using #6 is a combination of #7 and #26 together a waste of money and a step. Use either #6 ALONE or use the combo listed above.

I find the hi-tech yellow wax difficult to remove. Tried it a few times and never really liked it.
But, if you are going to use it, do a claybar treatment first.
Then the glaze,
then the nu-finish,
then the hi tech yellow wax last.

Should do good for the winter.

I guess I should have stated that this is for the coming spring..and I'm only using the Nufinish for the winter, where at the moment is doing a good job.

I'm just looking for the best combo of shine and protection....

How about switching the cleaner wax to a polish?

You might get a nice, deep shine, but it won't last that long since #7 is an oily glaze that will just sit on top and get washed off (#26 with it since it won't bond to paint with the glaze).

Hey Daves87rs, if you do try #6 on its own, Id love to hear how you would compare it to Gold Class. Right now I measure things in comparison to GC since it gives the best look, from the waxes ive tried. If its easy on and off, looks nice and lasts a decent amount of time i would buy some. I myself find that Nu Finish has a good durability through Winter. Rest of the year I go for look more than durability, but itd be nice to have both!!

If you want something long lasting, you might want to consider topping the cleaner wax with 3M Performance finish.

This guy did a pretty good durability comparison and after 6 months, 3M still beaded.

Most well stocked auto parts stores will carry the Meguiars Mirror Glaze line (tan bottles). It's not that hard to find.

Problem I have with what they stock is its all the same stuff. The reason you found #6, #7, and #26 is because they sell well. All those products have been around for many many years (decaades, really). They not bad for your car, just old technology.

I used to buy #6 by the gallon when I had a detailing biz in the 90's. It's an easy to use one-step cleaner wax made for production detailing. You can top it with the #26 for extra protection.

#6 has light cleaning/polishing ability. #7 is a pure glaze and will fill swirls and leave a nice, rich gloss. Top it with the #26 for protection. Definitely 1970's old skool detailing but lots of people and body shops do it this way, so that's why it's on store shelves.
