Sure it takes labor but the kit is around three grand and all you need is a shovel and a pile of sand.

Not a bad idea. I saw a TV show long ago where a guy made his house from spray styrofoam...similar to what they use in boxes. Simply set the forms and spray away (with a release). Want an extension? Chansaw a hole in the wall and spray some more foam... Great insulation!

I went to an alternative building techniques class a few years ago and watched a movie about the guy that built that thing. if you like really strange building materials look up a "cobb" house.
