This is my thinking as well. It depends on how that clause is worded. They may have used the word "automotive " or similar to restrict what he posts on social media. Posting on a automotive forum like this raises red flags even if the comments are not related at all to Trico.

It's best to play it safe

Fram Ultra was considered best based on construction, materials used, and filtering performance. ... Motorking did report 5 micron performance, to his credit. I think people on this forum chose the Ultra based on the facts alone, not any Motorking comments beyond plain old facts. He knew marketing buzz words don't work on bitog, and never did that. ....... And he told us about the Fram Racing filter, which is also a good product out of Fram, there is that contribution.

Sounds like he might be free to talk after September.

Yours would be an XG5

XG2 fits Ford/Dodge V8's with 22mm threads
Whoops, my bad, was thinking of the MGM 4.6 (which always has an ADBV).

I agree, but I wonder if Fram picked the perfect time to market to this board during the nadir of Puro quality. Perhaps the pendulum will swing back the other way in the future?

There were a lot of Purolator fans here (me included) because of their high efficiency, and also because the old false tale that they were "too flow restrictive" was myth busted.

Then the media tearing started happening, the people who liked PureOnes for the high efficiency oil filters naturally gravitated to the Fram Ultra when people started seeing the build construction (backed up by C&Ps), filtering performance, price and availability. It was pretty much a natural no-brainer at that point.

That's exactly been my experience and why I fell into the XG line as well.

It's actually simple. Fram Ultra designers used a gasket on the bypass end cap, but not on TG and EG because the fiber cap is a gasket. So on the base plate side they do the same thing, and instead of designing a new baseplate gasket they use the ADBV which is a great gasket already and standard.
To keep the design consistent to Ultra standards, they use a gasket on the base in the form of an ADBV.

You are correct, cant say anything about either brand until Sept 8th. And seriously, no reason to either help or hurt them, they fed my family for 28 years.
