SO here is all I hear about dashcams

1. It overheats
2. It drains car battery
3. I has disk errors

Does anybody have one that works?

I'd be satisfied even plugging it in manually to the cig lighter every-single-time I get into the car..... just as long as it works.

I'm interested as well, but the issue is my car is parked in the sun in 115 degree Phoenix heat. I doubt many would last in that.

I have one called: Panorama 2.
It had good reviews and was advertised as working in 'low' temps.

Problem with Dash Cams is,
It's not like buying a regular Camera.
Kodak and all the other Camera Companies do not make Dash Cams.

When I bought mine, they ALL came from:
* China
* Tiawain
* South Korea

A lot of talk about 'counterfeits'

I bought mine on E-Bay.
If you do, pick a 'Top Rated Seller"

I like mine a lot.
Bought Dec 2013 ...... $189.00
Mine plugs into Auxilary Outlet and has a 'Red' Button to turn Camera ON/OFF

I just bought a Mini 0805 dashcam. I popped open the cig lighter adapter and soldered some wires straight to the circuit board inside, so I would have two leads coming out. Then I wired it to an ignition switch source.
That prevents the battery drain problem. Some cars have a ignition-switched power port.

I haven't palyed with it too much, but, it works!

It will be hard to beat the performance and price of a G1WC from an authorized seller with a quality card. The market is flooded with fakes.

Just to be clear.. is it the W"c" or the W"h" previously linked to at the top posts?

^^^ I have the G1WC, it has a capacitor so no need to worry about battery overheating in the summer. G1WH has a 20 degree wider field of view, not sure of the other differences. What ever you decide, make sure it is from a legit seller and has a capacitor.

Absolutely. My wife in a recent wreck had two others lie to the police and blame her. Had we had a dashcam it would have been an open/shut case with egg on their faces. Never again.

Of these 3 countries I think South Korea is the best(Samsung, LG are South Korean companies), next it Taiwan and China is last in term of quality.

The quality of G1W and A118/B40 series is not very good, and the chipset and sensor are outdated.

Now there are many dash cams with much better video and build quality. I have used Matego MG600 series with capacitor and remote lens,so the main unit can be hidden away from heat, and it's also more discreet.
