Just curious what the rationale is?
Besides saving $4 or so on a 5-quart jug, and being happy with oil that's good enough, there is no valid rationale.
Mobil 1 Extended Performance keeps your pistons clean enough to go 15,000 miles, while Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy can only go far less (10,000 miles).
Therefore, you would have cleaner ringland piston deposits if you changed Mobil 1 Extended Performance early at 10k miles vs. Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy.
Actually Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy will go much longer than 10K, but XM says 10K warranty. They(XM) actually test it out 20-30K and beyond. One member here(Fsskier) ran 0-20AFE(engine called for 5-30) in his in his mid 90's Escort to 300K at 20K OCI's. He sold the car but the engine still ran fine.
