A Few FP Questions

Hey everonye, i got a few FP questions for those of you experts.
1)Does FP have to be used with LC. The reason I am asking is because with most Fuel System Cleaners it is better to add right before an oil change to get the deposits out after the cleaner. So if FP is meant to add with every tank full, is LC needed to control the oil from the fuel system cleaning through out your oil change interval? Can the FP be run at every tank full without any harm to the oil in the crankcase? I am trying to decide if it would be better to run the FP with every tank or just run the RedLine FSC at every oil change.

2)I know it has been mentioned on here that FP is both a fuel system cleaner and lubricant and it will also stablize the fuel too, but will FP absorb the water in the fuel also like a dry gas in the winter time?

3) I know most people add the FP to the tank right before a fill, but can FP be added to the tank after a fill like say, right when you get home after filling the tank? This would be alot easier than carring a bottle with you in the car, but I wasn't sure if there is a benefit to adding before a fill for mixture.

I can provide my experience on question 3. I first used FP by putting it in when I got home from the gas station, and didn't see much if any mileage improvement. I decided to try adding it before the gas, and boom, 1 mpg gain on that tank. 1-2 mpg on each tank thereafter over what I used to get under similar driving conditions.

I'll do my best here:

1) You do not have to use LC with FP. FP can be used alone, however you will see best results by using both. FP is different than other fuel system cleaners in that it dissolves carbon deposits (does not just break them up) so no worry of pieces getting in oil. FP needs to be run every tankful as it not only cleans your fuel system but it treats the gas as well.

2) YES! As Molakule put it "It scavenges water and moisture from the fuel system so well that the resulting mix can be burned in the combustion chamber."

3) It is perfectly fine to add FP after fill up. Some do it before because of mixing better, but it will mix just fine after a fill up.

lcd, has it all right ! FP is safe for the engine and oil thus it is different than most fuel adds. Using every tank is a great idea. Moderating the levels added can be accomplished by using periodic oil analysis ( once or twice a year) and RECORDING mpg measurements over good period of time. Odis had a school bus company running as little as 1/4 ounce per 5 gallons diesel once they were cleaned up and still getting good fuel consumption gains.

LC and FP are chemical tools to use to optimize your transport. Employing the tools properly can optimize your economy too.

Most (all?) fuel injected gasoline and diesel engines have excess fuel recirculated back to the tank. That and the usual sloshing from driving will soon mix any additive added after the fill-up.

with regards to #3, I would be a bit worried that 1: some FP remains in the filler neck, and 2: the FP stays in contact wit the plastic fuel cap, potentially causing a breakdown of it.

Thus I like to make sure its washed down after pouring in. It will mix in the tank, but only what makes its way to the tank. if you only put 1-2 oz, a good portion of that amount may not make it, depending upon your tank location, etc.

Your fuel cap is of a type of plastic that would be unaffected by any of the solvents in FP.

Autozone sells a small long fluted funnel that fits perfectly into the gas tank throat.It costs under a dollar and works great.
