On my 2014 focus ive had ac freeze up issues on it s8nce day one. It would do it on far drives usually cruising down the highway for around 100 miles. It would do it on 1 or 2 fan speed and on max or regular a/c.
The dealer had previously evacuated and recharged the system changed the expansion valve then the evap temp sensor and now the relay. I noticed today the 0ressures were a little low, it took a very small amount of refrigerant and the pressures were then in the normal range. I assume it has been checked so many times that it became a little low. After that i took it 155 miles all the way from where we live to past Branson mo and then drove all the way back i kept it at the operating conditions where it has always failed in the past. Surprise surprise it never froze up you could watch the temp in the vent vary a few degrees every now and again which meant the compressor was destroking as necessary. So at this point i can only assume that its fixed. Its been such a continual issue that a bad relay is hard to believe. Its hard to even be confident that its fixed. But it didnt act up in 300 miles and anytime you went on an extended drive before you could guarantee it would act up. All the headache and a 5 dollar 2 second Relay job is all it might have been. Im simply amazed by this.
