I've reused it a few times on my current car because the manufacturer recommended maintenance schedule calls for it. Not sure whether I'll keep doing it or not though. I've never reused one on a car that didn't call for it specifically.

I'm 26.

'94 LS400 6-7k/6mo with dino, 12-15k/12mo with syn, oil filter once a year, i.e, re-use oil filter with dino but not with syn.

'00 E430 10-13k/12mo with syn only, cartridge paper oil filter every oil change. The newer fleece filter has "an advanced filter media that allows the increase of service intervals with better filter efficiency", if I buy this fleece filter I may re-use it.

'04 S2000 6mo with dino, 12mo with syn, oil filter once a year. Annual mileage for this car is about 5-6k. I may increase oil filter usage to 2 years, i.e., filter is changed only at 4th oil change with dino or 2rd oil change with syn.

50+

Ok here is another question for you guys who do run the filter through two oil changes. Do you take the filter off and drain the old oil out or just leave it installed and don't worry about the old oil in the filter.

I don't. The filter gasket is only designed to be used once, so I dont risk it.
With a ADBV you wont get much out of them, anyway.

I agree.

I tried to drain on old filter which I was to discard, almost no oil drained out after 2-3 days. I used a small screw driver to move the ADBV to drain the oil, in the process I damaged the ADBV. The oil drain out of Honda PCX-004 filter (after ADBV was removed) is less than 1/4 quarts. Too much work to remove 1/4 quarts of old oil.

No, I use oil extractor to suck the oil from dipstick tube. If I don't change the oil filter, there wasn't a drop of oil on the garage floor. Changing oil filter of the LS400 is not easy, the S2000 is a little easier, but it would be a mess with either car.

Changing cartridge oil filter on E430 is very easy because it is on the top of the engine.

Why would I want to put in 4 or 4.5 qts of clean oil so I can have 5 qts of dirty oil? Of course, I change the filter! Age 48.

I have always changed the filter and certainly will as I extend my OCI. However, change the filter or not, you still leave plenty of dirty oil in the engine. The real question is how much dirt holding capacity does the ol filter still have.

thats not question...not changing filter might be considered intentionally leaving used oil, by some

My car no. my moms car she drives a 95civic I run two ocis with a mobil drain and fill. Age 20

And all this concern about putting new oil with dirty oil. Doesn't oil get better with age as explained in one thread? So much to lubricants wow
