I have a 92 Nissan Stanza and they are very similar with engine design and tranny (2.4L engine). My tranny does not have a filter to change out, just a screen. In order to remedy this problem, I have installed a Perm-cool inline ATF filter that is good for 50k miles. Also, Nissan auto's aren't known for their longevitiy and I strongly recommend a 30-40 dollar investment with an aftermarket ATF cooler. The decrease in ATF temperature will greatly increase the longevity of your transmission. Don't forget to add 1 bottle of Red lubeguard (www.lubeguard.com) whenver you drain and flush the tranny. You are on the right track in taking care of your tranny with frequent replacement of the fluid. This should help a a lot.
The 2.4L engine in your Altima should easily last 300k miles if you take care of it.

The filter should be good for a 100k+ miles without servicing. It IS a pathetic screen. It can be cleaned so don't bother buying one.

Drain/refills every 30k isn't enough since only ~1/3 of the ATF is being changed. For that very simple to maintain drain plug equipped transmission, 10k drain/refill interval is cheap insurance.
