Well, it actually does, sometimes. Mother in laws truck I'm trying to fix. The AC light, recirculation light, and the other dails seem to be working. Here's the scoop: about two months ago, she said the blower quit. So I checked everything, the fuses, relays, battery, alternator, etc. etc. everything checked out fine. I even replaced the resistor that I read was a common failure item on these particular line of trucks. Still nothing. One day she called and said she hit a pothole and the blower started working. Whaaaa? Only on defrost mode, but blowing cold air. Then about a week later from that, she hit another bump and then the vents started blowing. But, only on max blower speed. Well, last night I went to turn it down, and now it quit altogether. I traced the blower wired , two pigtails, hooked up the volt meter and I got between 8-12 volts from low setting and moving higher. But at the very max setting, no voltage at all. OK. That should tell me that the resistor has a bad spot in it because it was a bear trying to replace that, but at least the other speeds should work. Is it the blower motor? Sounds like it should be, but I don't want to be chasing ghost here. Thinking about getting some wire and jumping the hot wire off the fuse box directly and seeing ig the blower will turn.

That's what I'm leaning towards also. However, I've looked and looked and can't find any diagrams on how to actually remove the blower motor. I've read one post saying you have to remove the whole dash, but the blower motor is literally hanging in the foot well on the passangers side. Surely there's an easier way.
The common problem are the resistor pack OR the connector, and then the blower itself.
A long shot, but in my workplace Dodge truck I have to wiggle the ignition key a bit to get the blower motor to run. A problem in the steering column wiring, but I was having fits trying to diagnose a motor or resistor problem. Yours sounds different, but try wiggling things a bit! Maybe a hammer blow to the motor!
eljefino, my Caravan blower high speed is also controlled by the resistor. So I get zero blower motor when the resistor fails....unlike the usual symptoms. There are always exceptions.

Well, I admit defeat. My feable attemps at fixing it or narrowing down the problem wasn't working so I brought to a trusted mechanic in town. Called me this morning and said that the fan blower switch had started to melt at the poles. He was able to save it and re-wire it. Wasn't sure if it would be a permanent fix, but does work now. Suggested using it until it fails because the only other solution is to get a whole new HVAC console, around 170-200 bucks, and install it. I can live with that.
Yeah, I saw that too. Well, when I got it home last night, I decided to check the freon level. It cooled fine, but I was going to hook up my guages to it just to see where the freon pressures are at. I took off the low pressure cap and psssssst, freon coming out of the port. Great. Found another cap I had and got it sealed tight so that it isn't leaking anymore, but I know that is a temporary fix. Seems leaking ports are pretty common with GM's, from what I read. Now, I got to get a vacuum setup and try and save the freon. Wonder if Autozone loans these things out? Also found out the defroster setting doesn't work, but that's an easy fix.
