Simple question sorry all! Need new ball joints front suspension. How many do I need? 2 or 4? Ate Thier uppers to? I lnow thiers lower ball joints,but uppers?

If I need info about my '16 Camrys, I search the interwebs. Google and you tube are your friends A 98 GM should have tons of "how tos?"

That's per Rock Auto ............ Advance auto shows upper as well ........... perhaps too old for keeping in stock?

My quick googling indicates there are 1 front lower per side and 1 rear lower per side.
So I only need 2 for complete front fix?
My guess is two ( corrected by ZRX )

You have struts. One balljoint on each lower control arm. Two for the front.

A few people call upper strut mounts upper ball joints. It's something of a misnomer, though they do articulate like ball joints do.
Jack the car up then put a pry bar under the tire and lift, if you get clunks from up top the strut mounts are shot. Lift the whole front end so the sway bar doesn't fight you.

By the time the lower BJs on that vehicle go bad, normally the upper strut mount needs replaced too, and possibly the struts while you're at it, then the alignment.Thanks! I thought perhaps Thier was an upper ball joint too, front .phew! Less money !
I had a '97, inherited from my parents and one thing I recall about it was that it had greaseable BJs from the factory, but the place they took it to for oil changes (same dealership they bought it from, no less), never lubed it, assumed it had sealed BJs.
Meh, similarly I tend to call anything that needs a spring compressor a strut. This is because coming from a rock crawling background, "coilover" tends to mean high-zoot, supple, infinitely adjustable with potential for absurd wheel travel (and limit straps accordingly!)
Not exactly the same as a unequal length double wishbone style upper ball joint.
MacPherson Strut Suspension is the correct term for this car (Front & Rear).
