97 Dodge Stratus / gas gauge issues

The gauge constantly fluctuates up and down and the low fuel lite blinks when the gauge moves at all.

What would be causing this?

fuel level sending unit inside gas tank.

Corroded electrical connections can cause these gremlins to surface. You might get lucky and clean the top connections and not need to open the tank. Check/clean the engine grounds as well.
