96 Chevrolet Celebrity. Opinions?

I'd skip the iridiums and just use AC Delco coppers in it. They always ran best in my 3.1l and the motor is easy to change the plugs on, so every 30k isn't bad. I'd also siphon and refill the trans with Maxlife, works well in these older GMs.
Nice score on the car, hopefully your kid enjoys it. My son was not easy on his Cutlas Supreme and the motor/trans never missed a beat.
The 3100 V6 came with platinum plugs from the factory in '96. There is a warning on the emission control sticker to not remove them when the engine is hot. I've not noticed any change in performance either time I've replaced them.

They changed after mine then, thought they came w copper. Platinum then for the win.

Those GM V-6’s can get knocky with piston slap. I’d use a 0W-40 or 5W-40 in it; seems to make those engines smoother. Buddy had a 2.8 Century that got smoother when topped of with 10W-40 years ago.

They can definitely be noisy cold. IIRC, there was even a coated piston released to be used in the number 6 position because of complaints.
My Dad has one ('96 3100 V6) with 340k that has always been noisy when cold too.
