My 93 Mitsui Galant owners manual calls for Mitsu Diamond atf SP fluid. Is atf fluid that shows it replaces Diamond SP2 and SP3 safe to use? The spec sheet on Castrol's multivhehicle atf shows it replaces SP2 and SP3. Or must I buy the atf from Mitsubishi?

dodge atf+4 will work as many mitsubishi's trans are the same as dodge both are built in Normal IL.I use atf+4 in my 02 galant because Mitsu dealer in Odessa tx said get fuild from dodge. 3 fluid changes later no problem.

My '95 Montero Manual says to use Mitsu SP or Dex II. I would think any Dex III would be OK. Only the newer (2000 and up) Mitsu transmissions require SP III.

Not true. Galants REQUIRE SPIII fluid. Do not use Dexron or Mercon and you are taking a chance with anything someone says is compatible.

Depending on model year, the owners manual may require a different spec of SP (I or II), but SPIII is the latest and is backward compatible to all SP ATF's.

Check prices for Hyundai or Kia brands of SPIII because they ARE the same, and usually a little cheaper.

A 93 Galant does not require SP III fluid. Diamond SP fluid is equivalent to Dex II. (It says so in my Mitsu manual that I am holding in my hand - 1995 Montero) Thus, Dex III will work for a transmission requiring SP fluid.

As for his original question, the Castrol Multivehicle will work too.
