BMC, and it was the Aussie Kimberly and Tasman. Issigonis put the gearbox directly under the engine, that's how they could get an inline six sideways.

The Suzuki Verona used a transverse mounted, 2.5 I6. Had never seen anything like it when I opened the hood. Back on subject, I doubt the engine could simply be cleaned; the intake cam gear is sheared off. Either that, or the mechanic unbolted it, but it looks broken.

Yep, we got the Verona here as a Holden Epica from 2007 to 2011, with a choice of 2.0 or 2.5 transverse I6, a strange sight indeed under the bonnet! Mind you, either petrol engine was better than the diesel it was also available with...

And no, that poor Falcon engine won't be saved.

There was also the Ford/Volvo SI6 (Short Inline 6) engine, used in both transverse FWD and Longitudinal mountings.
