I'm ordering Phillips Extreme Vision bulbs for my car and the 2 choices in the title are available; is there a difference? Thanks!

Thanks; a few more questions if I may: I've read the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra's burn out quick but the Phillips are better in that regard; are they both the same voltage and all that stuff as stock??? How much of a shorter life span do the top tier super bright automotive bulbs have over an OEM style?

Thank you.

They are both junk..you might get a year out of either. I had both philips burn out in just under a year. I opted to put a 9012LL bulb in place of the 9006 to get higher lumen output instead. You just need to cut a tab to make it fit..cut with nail clippers. Been two years so far and still good. Not sure how they compare to brightness of sylvania's but def brighter then philips.Search amazon for wagner 9012LL..20$ per bulb and will outlast those other ones.

It's a trade off with brighter bulbs, the higher the lumens the shorter the life. I think I read the hours ratings on the back of the package and they are rated pretty short but the top Phillips bulb is really bright.

What vehicle are you upgrading the bulbs on? The Phillips HIR 9012 work on almost all applications calling for 9006 as well as having very good life. They do produce the most lumens but may actually produce too much glare in certain housings.

I recently heard there is an even brighter version of the hir 9012 called the Vosla +30 and may even be the same bulb they sell right at Gm dealerships, although I haven't confirmed that yet

HB4 is the correct bulb name. 9006 is the US trade number under which they're usually sold. If you look at your headlamp lens (or possibly the back of the housing), you'll see it marked as HB4 (for the low beam). Your high beam will probably be marked HB3 (but they're often sold as 9005).

Do yourself a favor and go with the Philips HIR bulbs instead or even better get the Volsa bulbs from the GM dealer.

Vehicle is a 1994 Toyota Corolla. So going with the 9012 won't have any negative consequences? It's the same voltage and all that stuff?

Yep.

I never heard of Vosla +30 until now so might be worth looking at those. The 9012's have higher lumen output but will work fine. All you need to do is cut part of a clip to make it fit. Been using em 2-3 years now in my 07 corolla.

The bulbs will certainly plug in fine and lock in place with the small tab trim as well as being the same wattage as 9006 which isn't any issue but the condition of the headlight housings on a 20+ year old vehicle may be an issue.

Any issues with clouding or hazing will be problematic for the higher output bulb and will not be ideal. If the housings are in good condition though and genuine oem it's a good upgrade idea. Unfortunately many people don't know about the housing issue and buying non oem housings is a huge mistake if you ask me

I sanded the housings last year so they are good. Light output has been getting dismal and I haven't changed any headlight bulbs since I bought the car in 2002. That's why I'm contemplating changing them.

One other thing: I read in the reviews on Amazon where people have been swapping 9006s for 9012s the 9012 runs hotter. One person noted that the inside of their headlight housing started getting black. For that reason I'm a bit weary and may just get XtraVision's from the part store since they are half the price, and if they restore the light output back to stock, I'll be happy.

Thanks for the info guys. Much appreciated.

If your bulbs are from 2002, just switching to new bulbs..even OEM ones will restore back to stock. Halogen lights dim over time.

Been running the Philips extreme power 9007 in my mustang for about 7 years. Some of that time as a daily driver and some of it not. Anyways they are still running strong as just as bright as the overwatt flosser bulbs I tried after upgrading to relay harnesses.

The Phillips Xtreme vision is the best and brightest 9007 you can get, the Xtreme power is right behind it. Sometimes it's a different story on what bulb is best based on the size, such as how they do make Phillips Xtreme vision in 9006 but the HIR2 9012 are even better for that size if you want to mod.
