All I have to go by is what I've seen in terms of bottom-end wear and what the engine had for oil pressure.
Engines with pressure in the mid to high 30's on a 30-weight were in excellent shape. A friend of mine had one with 15psi on 20w50 and it looked like the 4 horsemen had come and wreaked havoc on his bearings.
Keep in mind, the above is specific only to the 302 Ford and no other engine.
