I have an '89 Ford Ranger with a 5 spd manual, about 155k on it. Last year it blew a head gasket and it sat around for almost a year till I finally got around to fixing it. (2.3L sohc motor by the way) After I finally got it running again, I noticed the clutch has been making odd noises. It sounds kind of like a combination between a low groan and a hiss. Sorry, that's about the best description I can come up with. It didn't do this before the head gasket issue, and it shifts fine otherwise. Also, it only makes the noise when I'm touching the clutch. The slightest bit of pressure on the clutch and it makes the noise, foot off the clutch, no noise. As far as I know, this is the original clutch, when I bought the truck, it had about 50k miles on it.
It's also making a fairly loud ticking sound, (engine) which I'm assuming to be a stuck lifter. I suppose it's due for an Auto-Rx treatment. Ok, now I'm rambling, but my '98 3.0L Dodge Caravan that I just bought is also ticking pretty good for about 2 minutes after I start it. It always goes away as soon as it warms up, again the assumption is a sticky lifter. I'll have to try the Auto-Rx on this one too. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
