My 89 honda crx High Fuel runs excellent except for one issue. When its warm sometimes it will idle rough, that rough idle lots of old hondas seem to have. I have been around this issue for over a year and still have not fixed it so I figured I would see if any of you guys have ever had the same thing. It does a real low rough idle, wont die but very low and rough. The car gets 50mpg so I dont want to just replace the engine with something faster, rather fix the idle. I have been through the ignition (new distributer, wires, plugs, cap, rotor), fuel (new injectors), and iac valve, and put a new egr in it a year ago to pass emissions but still no change. Any suggestions?

Mine has a rough idle too, it's not as old as yours but it only does it when it's warm. It's weird though, because my RPMs are normal and don't fluxuate, they idle perfectly at the 750 mark, but the whole steering wheel shakes and the car shakes a bit too.

I was going to say dirty fuel injectors until I remembered you said "HF". The original 1985 HF had a carb....did this one as well, or did they move to TBI on that model year? Gees...I had a 91 Si and worshipped all things Honda back then, you'd think I could remember this.....

My Mom's 85 Accord SEi started that rough idle, steering wheel shake thing around 40K and she took it to Honda and got the FI cleaned. Purred like a kitten til sold.

Those older Hondas had miles of vacuum lines. You have to bite the bullet and check them all!
The carb wasn't designed for 10% alcohol fuel, but primarily for pure gas. It is a little lean, for sure.
A good carb cleaner run through a tank of gas, with possibly an idle mixture adjustment afterwards, should help a bit.
Setting your valve lash should help.
Advancing your ignition timing a few degrees will help, as well.
